Bloom

Life blooms into explosive power when water meets the verdant energy of Dendro.

Bloom is a transformative elemental reaction introduced to Teyvat's combat system, originating from the unique properties of Dendro energy interacting with Hydro. Unlike traditional reactions that deal immediate damage or apply status effects instantly, Bloom creates autonomous entities known as Dendro Cores. These floating orbs drift through the battlefield before detonating, dealing AoE Dendro damage to enemies within their range.

Lore & Background

While initially viewed as a simple reaction, Bloom has proven to be the foundation for more complex and volatile interactions. It represents the chaotic side of nature's abundance; when too much energy is concentrated in one spot without control, it bursts forth with destructive potential. This duality reflects the philosophy that life itself can be both nurturing and overwhelmingly powerful depending on how its elements are balanced.

In Their Own Story

The rain fell softly over the verdant canopy of the Sumeru Forest, a gentle rhythm that usually soothed the spirits of the land. However, today the air hummed with a strange tension as a stray drop of water brushed against a patch of glowing Dendro moss. Instantly, a small, pulsating green orb materialized from the damp earth, bobbing gently in the air like a curious firefly. It drifted lazily past a sleeping slumbering beast before expanding rapidly and bursting into a shower of harmless, verdant sparks that illuminated the twilight forest floor.

Reader's Guide

Bloom is triggered by applying Hydro onto a target already affected by Dendro, or vice versa, creating a floating Dendro Core. These cores do not deal damage immediately; instead, they float for a brief duration before exploding to deal AoE Dendro damage based on the trigger's Elemental Mastery and level. To maximize efficiency, players often utilize characters with high Elemental Mastery to boost the core's explosion power. The reaction is unique because the damage scales off the character who triggered it, not necessarily the one dealing the initial application. This allows for flexible team building where a support can set up cores while an off-field DPS triggers them. Advanced strategies involve modifying these cores through other elements. Applying Pyro creates Burning Bloom (Pyro), while Cryo creates Hyperbloom (Electro-infused homing projectiles). Teams typically feature a Dendro applicator, a Hydro user for core creation, and an Electro or Pyro character to transform the reaction into more potent forms.
